New Logo, Borough Search

Posted in Announcements at 12:27 am by infofornyc

Hey everyone, we hope you’re still getting value out of our searches. We updated the logo to add a bit more style and have a more urban feel to it. We are also listening to your suggestions.

We have added new searches by Borough. Try out our Queens, Bronx, and Brooklyn Searches.

A shop section was also added which is powered by Amazon to find Broadway CDs, DVDs, and books. There are also links to stores that you might find useful to book your travel needs, theater/Broadway/concert tickets, and more.

Look for a section in the future which will add a more extensive feedback section so you can tell us more about how you feel or what we can do better. We will also add a section to find out more about us and who we are. Keep searching!

3rd Party Links: Apartments and Subway Directions

Posted in Announcements at 9:10 pm by infofornyc

Once in a while, we run into some decent sites which we make sure to include in our search results if it’s not already there. Then there are other times we run across sites that we feel are so useful that we should highlight them in a special. Therefore, we are adding some 3rd party links to our front page.

There have been a lot of searches for apartments and subway maps which lead us to our first two external links.

1) Housingmaps.com
This is a great Google Map mashup with Craigslist apartments. It’s not just for New York City, but you can specify NYC, and it will zoom into Manhattan. Sometimes it can be a little slow, but it’s worth the wait.

2) HopStop.com
HopStop is a great application where you can specify a starting and end point, and it will provide complete door-to-door directions by providing walking, subway, and bus directions. You can even specify how you want to get there (e.g., subway and walking only OR more transfers and less walking OR walking only, etc.)

Definitely take a look at these two. Keep your eyes out as we add more interesting links.

Minor Redesign

Posted in Announcements at 11:06 pm by infofornyc

Hi everyone, thanks for your continued support for us here and hopefully you’re finding the critical New York City information you need. So it appears that most people are using the generic NYC search although you will likely get the best results by using our targetted searches if one of those topics work for you. If not, then just type in your search terms in the generic one.

Due to this fact, we have rearranged the front page slightly to have the generic search engine on top and the focused searches and the search via Google map after that. We have also pulled out the Google ads from the top of the page for now, although this may come back at a certain point. We hope you are finding the ads useful to help you get the info or service you need.

Please send us any tips or questions or suggestions and keep searching! Thanks.
