Canstruction New York 2011

New York Nissan Taxi
For those who don’t know, New York has chosen the Nissan Taxi as the Taxi of Tomorrow.
The Taxi of Tomorrow was a competition set up by the Design Trust for Public Space and the New York City Taxi & Limousine Commission to re-imagine the taxi system for the 21st century. A big part of this was the vehicle. After sending out proposals and receiving submissions from many companies, the Nissan NV200 was chosen as the winner.
This new taxi will start being used in 2013 and will be established for 10 years.
For those who are curious about what to expect, there is currently a Design Expo hosted by Nissan at Broadway and 5th Avenue outside on the pedestrian walkway. Here are the times that you can drop by to visit and see the NV200 taxi:
Nov. 2 through Friday, Nov. 4, 8 a.m.-9 p.m.; and, Saturday, Nov. 5, 8 a.m.-6 p.m..
