The area between 49th and 60th streets is known as the “Golden Mile” and is a prime destination for luxury shopping. Many flagship stores are located on this stretch of Fifth Avenue, including the famous Apple Store, and the famous toy store FAO Schwarz. The annual holiday window displays at department stores like Saks Fifth Avenue and Bergdorf Goodman are a popular attraction for both locals and tourists.

Shopping Tips

Fifth Avenue shopping district stretches for multiple blocks so wear comfortable shoes for walking around to all the stores that interest you. This is one of the most popular shopping districts as well, but it caters not only to the ultra wealthy but also has a lot of popular brands for every budget such as Nike, H&M, Zara, and more.

During the weekend, it can get very crowded and in particular during the holidays, it can get mobbed especially by the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree. If you get tired, there are also a lot of nice place to grab a quick bite or snack though more options will be off of Fifth Avenue.
